Social Security Announces 2.8 Percent Benefit Increase for 2026
The Social Security Administration has published the Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) for 2026.ย Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for over 75 million Americans will increase 2.8 percent in 2026. The 2.8 percent COLA will begin with benefits payable to Social Security beneficiaries in January 2026, with increased payments to SSI beneficiaries beginning on December 31, 2025.

HOTMA Implementation Notice B.3 states that owners must use the SSA COLA to calculate initial certifications and annual recertifications for income effective January 1 or later of the upcoming year.ย This applies to recertifications that have not yet been completed after the COLA has been announced.ย Please reach out to AHC with any questions about the SSA COLA.
